Excited to announce I have a new blog....

I have just started a new blog a few days ago. I decided that it was time for a more professional look. I wanted my pictures to be bigger, and wanted to be able to add pages on my blog. Madison

I had the pleasure of photographing Madison last month after Christmas. It was cold the day of our shoot, but Madison and her family were trooper's. We shot these pictures around my home town of Comfort, NC. We went to a friends house to use his old store for our session. These were some of my favorite ones. I really love the antiques he had around his house. Thanks to Madison and her family for letting take you photo's, I had a blast. Hope you enjoy!

Domino's For Sale....

I have been decorating domino's for a while now and really enjoy it. It is like a tiny canvas! I like to make my own designs and draw it on the domino, and also like to use stamps. I use chalks and alcohol inks for color. It really takes patience to make these, and I find it to be very relaxing. I have decided to try and sell some, so if you are interested send me an email at jegreen.greenbean@gmail.com

Off Camera Lighting Workshop

I recently took an Off Camera Lighting Workshop at LCC. It was taught by Julie Mixon (click on her link to view her site) she did an amazing job teaching us some cool techniques. We learned to use grids, snoots and such with off camera lighting. I just wanted to share some photos from the class. Hope you enjoy!

I had the privilege of taking Cortney and John's engagement pictures yesterday. We went to Emerald Isle for our session. We had beautiful weather yesterday. We had a lot of fun! Cortney and John are getting married April 24, 2010. I am so excited about photographing their wedding! Here is a sneak peek of their engagement pictures, there will be more to come soon!

I want to thank Julie Mixon Photography. I bought her "Design Pile" disk, it has a lot of cool borders like this film sprocket border. I have been trying to come up with marketing idea's so that I can get some photo customers. I have decided to make 5x7 cards to pass out to other business. While I was in SC a couple of months ago, I snapped some shots of my Aunt's wedding rings because she did not have any pictures. I decided to mess around with some textures and such and used the ring shots. I have really enjoyed doing ring shots and hope to do a lot more, hopefully a lot of them will involve weddings.

I had the pleasure of spending the weekend with my sister and her husband in VA Beach. I took some pictures of them while I was there, we had a blast. They were good sports, and a great couple. I love you both, here are a few pictures. These are my favorite, I am almost done with the rest of them.

I did some ring shots for fun, here are my three of my favorite's.. I kinda went crazy with the flowers. My sister had very nice flowers at her house, so I took full advantage of them. I really had fun doing the ring shots, these are the first ones I have ever done!

Baby Portraits...

I had the pleasure of taking this little fellows picture over the weekend. He is just so cute, and a good baby. I have attended a photo workshop over the past couple of days, and have learned about textures and borders. I decided to put them to use for a birth announcement. I am pleased with the results. I created all the borders you see here, and the design I came up with. I had a lot of fun doing this, and hopefully there will be more to come. Thanks so much to the Lassiter family for letting take pictures and post them on my site, you have a wonderful family.

Seaberg Family Sneak Peak.....

Over Father's Day weekend I went to Emerald Isle for a photo session with the Seaberg Family. We had a great time. The weather at the beach was beautiful. The only thing standing in our way was biting flies, and they were everywhere! Despite the flies we got some great shots. Well finals are around the corner, and graduation is next week. I feel like I have been running a race trying to get everything taken care of for school.

I have had final portrait projects to do, one assignment was head shot portraits. This consist of taking a picture of just the persons face.

Amanda was my model, she is a photo student here at the college. I wanted to thank her for her time, and allowing me to post her pictures. She was an awesome model, she did a gre

Off Camera Flash...

So I know it's been a while since I have posted anything, with my senior art show, I have been busy!

Here are some off camera flash photograph's I did for a class project. We had to use a flash system that was off camera, on a tripod, with or without a umbrella. I did a little of all the techniques. I also made a SNOOT(this is something that slides over your flash unit, and it directs the light in a stream; you can direct the light wherever you want it to go).

I want to give a HUGE THANKS to my buddy Dustin(who is also a photography student with me) for letting me take his pictures. He put up with me for two whole hours! Thanks so much...

Image Transfer Experiment...

So I am trying out a new method of image transferring. I created this image in photoshop, by layering many different textures that I created. I have printed the image on Epson Matte photo paper, and I am layering 3 coats of gel medium(painters use this to mix in with their acrylic paints). After the gel dries, I am going to put the print in hot water to lift the image off the paper. After I lift the print, I will place it on a painters canvas, and allow it to dry. Hopefully it will work. I will post the results soon, so stay tuned.

Senior Invitations...

I finally created a graduation invitation for my brother that we both actually like. I created a couple of other ones, but my brother and I did not like them. So I went back to square one, this is the first time I have ever created any kind of postcard type deal. It was fun! Hopefully I will get to do some more and it will become a little easier to do! Hope ya like!

Boarders...

This is a picture of the Bishop family. I took this picture and placed some texture on it, and then put a boarder around it. I used a Polaroid Transfer for my border. For those who do not know what a Polaroid transfer is, or the method: You use a day lab, that uses Polaroid film. You put film, colored slides, or draw images and print your image on the Polaroid film. Then you pull the film apart and place the ink part onto watercolor paper, that has been soaked in water and then you squeegee the paper out. You use a roller to apply pressure to the film. Then lift and you have a cool vintage print, and each print turns out different.

This is my final print!

This is the transfer: (this one did not turn out right, so I scanned it in photoshop and used it for texture and a boarder.

This is some art work I am working on in class. We are supposed to come up with our own personal symbols, things that are important to us. We have to find a way to represent that symbol using photography. Here is the before and where I am at now. Just wanted to share it!

I went to Gaffney, SC to see my family over the weekend. I took some pictures of my cousins while I was there. We went to the Bishop's friends house to take pictures, it was beautiful there! The kids had a lot of fun playing around. I want to thank them for letting me take photo's, it allows me to practice. I hope you enjoy, there will be more soon to come!

Good News! The artwork that I submitted into the Kinston Arts Council Show got in, all three pieces. I am so excited, the show is this Thursday. Maybe I have a good chance of winning!! I will keep you posted...

What A Wonderful Weekend!

I went on a trip over the weekend to visit my aunt in Gaffney, SC. I took some of the family with me. My little brother tagged along, which was great because he usually does not want to hangout with me, he is a teenager. We went to church with my aunt. I really had to fight the devil that morning because I just wanted to sleep, but I got up. I got my brother to go with us. We had an awesome worship, and my brother accepted the Lord into his heart! How wonderful!!!

These are some pic's I took of Kaitlyn over the summer. This is some of my earlier work, as you can see. I think I have come a long way from this. The more pic's you take the better you get. I was bored today so I was messing around in photoshop with these pictures, trying some different techniques, here's what I got! I used some split toning, of course it works differently on different pictures. I sharpened her eyes, to make them stand out. I also put a cool blue tone on top.

More Art Stuff...

I've been working on these for a couple of weeks now and they are finally done. I am entering them in the Kinston Art council show. These images were taken across the road from my house. This was my grandfather's general store he owned back in the 50's. Everything is falling down from decay, I thought it was interesting. I had an assignment in digital II class, we had to take images and give them different textures and borders. For some reason I thought of the old store. I thought it would look really cool to lay texture on them. Hopefully the judges will to! Maybe I will place in the show!

Here is some artwork I've been working on for the last couple of days. This was an assignment I was given in Digital II class. I took this picture of my horse and gave the photo some texture to give it an old feel. Then I put a textured border around it. I really like the way it came out.

This is my younger brother Jason and his girlfriend Justine. They asked me to take some pictures of them. I decided to take some just around my house. I really got some good pictures. Who knew you could take such good pictures just around the house.

They are such a cute couple! On both of these images I scanned a dirty coffee filter onto my computer. I used it as a texture and layered it onto my image. It really gives the photograph a vintage feel. I really like adding textures to my pictures just to give them a different look. There are so many possibilities in photoshop.
